Algerian Postgraduates in the UK

The APGUK Reading Club

The APGUK has launched an online Reading Club for its members. The Reading Club will encourage interested members to read a book at the same pace, at the rate of one chapter a week, and to discuss these on a weekly basis.

The Reading Club will thus encourage structured online debates by focusing them around a particular theme, that of a book, and will be hosted virtually on this facebook group

How does it work?

Interested members should supply an email address where they can receive the relevant reading material. A chapter will be sent out on Fridays (allowing for a weekend read), then on the following Monday a new discussion thread regarding that chapter will be open for all those who want to discuss their views, or put forward questions.

Each chapter thread will be posted with a summary of its contents, and a set of potential points of interest or contention. With time all participating members should be encouraged to preside over a chapter. They’ll be responsible for posting the (short) summary of the chapter, and starting the discussion, i.e. acting as a moderator throughout.

A live discussion will be set every Wednesday night where everyone can get pseudo-live feedback on their points or questions.

The choice of books will be decided amongst interested members. If you are interested in the Reading Club then please join the facebook group and supply your email address.
